Simple Bathing Suit Top

We will start by finding a shirt which fits well. To use it as the guide.

I folded the fabric, put the shirt on the top as guide, folded a bit on the bottom so its not too long. ( this shirt is a bit big on my daughter)  since its a bit big i did not leave seem allowance, drew a line around itand cut as it was except drew a straight line at the neck instead of circular line , making it a V line when open and instead if cut exactly where the neck was at the shirt i cut an in and a half lower.
Ignore the extra cut there i just sewed it right back on :-)

Then i cut a rectangle for the back using as measurement from the bottom of arm holes down.

This one is very simple. and as third piece i cut a 10 x4 inch rectangular to use as straps.

Remembering i just told you a attached the side right back on , you would have one piece here, then i cut a piece exactly the shape of the chest area of the top and sewed these right side with right side and turned it.

Then grab your 10" x 4 " rectangle fold it in half and sew around all edges. Fold in half and cut. Now you should have two 2"x 5" rectangles which will be your neck straps .

Sew a seem to whats going to be the top of the back of the  bathing suit. (using ZigZAG)

Now grab  your back rectangle and your front of the bathing suit and sew together along the sides 1/4" , cut the exess fabric on the outside of the 1/4"

Then turn inside out and sew another 1/4" giving it a nice inside seem

Now you should have your bathing suit looking like a top :-)

Sew the bottom seem  using Zig Zag stitch ( its allows better stretch)

I folded 3 small flaps on the center on the V and sewed .

At this point the only thing missing should be only the straps which simply you fold the end of your 4" x 5"  rectangle about a 1/2" towards the inside and insert the straps on the top of the bathing suit  and double stitch a few times .
